Life outside Earth?
Do any of you guys believe in life outside of Earth? I'm not talking about small things such as bacteria, fungi, etc., but larger, intelligent life. I think that it's highly possible, because Earth is just a microscopic part of the universe.

Perhaps. You never know, but I would not be surprised if there was. NASA or someone like that has clamed to have found ice on Mars, that could be the beginning of lots of knowledge for us humans.

I believe it. Why not? There's life on Earth. And do you know how many planets there are in the universe! A LOT!

Yeah, that's my point. It would be dumb to think that we're the ONLY living beings in the universe. And Prm753, I think they also found bacterial fossil-like things in a meteorite in Antarctica.

Many people wonder if there's intelligent life ON earth
(observers of the political scene, particularly).

I used to think it was highly likely, but after reading about Fermi's paradox I reversed my views. Also, I think Drake's Equation is flawed, as there are probably variables it doesn't consider since we don't know all there is to know about life. Furthermore, I think it would be extremely difficult to plug in the right values into Drake's equation. Basically, I used to believe it was likely, but after reading about Fermi's paradox I don't believe it to be very likely anymore; however I acknowledge there is a possibility that intelligent life exists.

It depends what you consider "life" to be. People consider planets to be living, some don't. That would mean that all those other planets might just be living things? Just clarify when talking about things so general

I was talking about the people responding to his question. People have different views of what life could be. Intelligent life for one person could be a planet which grows plants and such, for another it's just an object.
