Signing up for a domain name
So I signed up for this killer domain name with a .ro extension. Unfortunately, I don't know what I'm doing and it asked for things like my national ID number.
Anyway, what would be the cheapest way to sign up for this domain? |

Be wary of fake sites (I know you are, I'm just saying this) that want to steal your information. No idea how you can get the cheapest way to get an .ro domain, but 1 & 1 hosting has plans for as little as $4.99 a month. (and you can get .com, .net, .biz, you name it, they might have it)

Sounds like a scam if it's asking for things like that. If you'll settle for a subdomain of a list of domains (but it's free), DynDNS is great.

.ro is romanian and I was signing up on a Romanian government site. Unfortunately, they do not respond to inquiries.
Is the best way to get a domain name like this through a hosting service? The other reason I wanted this specific domain is that you pay once and own it for life. |

There's some correlation between what you pay and what you get. You may not find out until your car quits running, but the water was still cheaper than gas.

A government site that doesn't respond to inquiries sounds fishy to me.
And the "it's yours for life" sounds like a scam to me, no other domains are like that.
