I use VI for writting the code, graphics i design using gimp. In the past i have used IDE's like Zend Studio, Dreamweaver etc...but found them more of a head ache than anything. It's probably more because i am so used to using vi. It really all comes down to what works for you. My boss can't stand vi, mainly cause he comes from a purly windows background.
