PPoA- I think some of the confusion arose from the fact that your post just wasn't all that funny. It looked like you were insulting the Visual Studio line AND programmers who use it. Honest misunderstanding, no harm done, stop arguing.

And DaWei, he has a point. You sometimes make this forum a lot harder to use; the phrase "belaboring the point" comes to mind. Can't you just drop it with some "agree to disagree" or even "agree to fume silently" comment?

I participate in the forum in my own way. I put an amount of effort into it that varies from time to time from cursory to considerable. I receive no pay for that. Stick your belabored point up your ass. If you all want to get together and push for my ban, have at it. I have other places I can contribute. I stick with this forum BECAUSE of its novices, not despite. That doesn't mean I treat 'em like their mama.

Silvanus, I already took the blame for bad humor, but thanks for reminding me. DaWei, your arrogance has no bounds. Although you may think I've got a hardon for you, I was really trying to help you. I'll just consider you up to a lost sheep. I have no bad feelings for you in either way.

By the way, the difference is, I offered to shut up, which you lack the ability to understand or do, the choice to respond was mine and mine to make, not yours.

I've visited numerous threads where the only thing you have to say is "read the rules/faq". That may or may not be highly valuable contribution, but it's the attitude you put in your response that really devalues your effort. Nobody wants to have some arrogant, uptight senior citizen lambasting them when all they are trying to do is get a little help. Most of the people seeking help are kids, who haven't been in the real world and don't have the skillset to fully explain their situation. You belittling them is in no way helping them, or you. That being said, I'm done with this conversation.

I hope this thread is closed soon. It has nothing more to offer and it will end up having mambers battling each other.

Dawei I respect you and your expertise in programming matters, as I know that you are amongst the most expert programmers in here (if not the most). I also recognize your contributions in this forum. BUT:

PPoA has a point here. I really think that you put a gun in his head for no reason, just because he said a joke that you (an me included) didn't find funny.

But lets say that you have a person in front of you that tells you a bad joke. What do you do then??
a)make a fake laugh
b)Just say you didn't find it so funny and that's it.

But in NO WAY I believe you start telling him that not only you didn't find his joke funny and imply him when to make jokes. and in no way I believe there's anyone who would make a whole discussion as to why he didn't find a joke funny. To sum up: Relax. It was just a joke! And you should react like if it was intended as that!

Then PPoA foresaw the upcoming 'fight' and said he would not continue because it would end up a bad thread (which it did).
and to use another member's phrase:

If you two can't solve your differences, just let it go. It's not like you have to tolerate each other in real life or something.
