Also depends on how large the company is. Small businesses sure in hell won't pay no 6 figure salary if even the owner isn't getting that! The larger the company you are working for (plus how much experience you have) the larger your check will be.

Yeah $400,000 seems a bit too much jayme. I heard that Microsoft hires some employees just so to keep them away from their competitors. Anyone heard anything similar?

I wasn't being specific, I was just being greedy. That is what I would want to make if I worked my ass off for MS. Wouldn't 200 be a little bit cheap for a multi-billion dollar company?

with microsoft (and companies at that level) its not just base salary, share options, benefits etc add a pretty large value to the job
o and erik wasn't trying to be rude, I just believe in the "if you dont have anything nice to say, say something stupid" rule I grew up with (i think thats how it went)
