I think it has more functionality than SharpDevelop, and the debugger is a lot better. Some of the really advanced stuff has been stripped out, but I've used it with no problems so far.

Check out JGrasp or JEdit. Both are text editors made for Java, but have plugins available for just about anything you wanna do, like for C or VB, I've even seen a plugin for doing your accounting on one of them. Plus, they're both FREE!

UltraEdit is designed to work with literally hundreds of languages. Has language specific extensions that provide syntax check via highlighting.
Costs 30 bucks, but they have an evaluation copy. www.ultraedit.com |

Like most people jedit is the best ive ever used. But notpad+ is great too. Just download both and see what you like the most
