If you mean a file with the extension ".cmd", it's basically a batch file. Open it up with Notepad and take a look.

Wow, I hope he wasn't talking about MSDOS. Up to 1995, you almost had to use the command prompt to get into windows. Now, some people don't even know what it is. I spent my childhood in C:\> , but at 23, i guess i'm getting old.

Before the day a tech-support guy came over and started up cmd on my Windows XP, I had never seen it before, and never knew something like it existed.
Coincidentally, my investigation of the command-line led me to linux and programming.

Ah, the good ol' days of Windows 3.1x... when quiting windows was just Alt-F4... I forget how to start it back up again... (was it just windows.exe?)

Nope. Just win
I much prefer *nix terminals over cmd or command.com.

He was talking about files with the ".cmd" extension - batch files.
On a side note, those of you using Windows, check out Monad. |

yeah but you had to ruin a nice conversation about win 3.0 didn't you :p . BTW, it was a com file not an exe. So you could type 'win' like Dameon said or 'win.com' and voila. I used to have it in autoexec so that it starts once the computer boots up. |
