Smile Java IDEs and other newbiness

Hi there...I'm new here so hello world....sorry :o

Does anyone know of a good compiler and IDE for beginning with Java programming?

I have some Java experience but it goes back quite a few years when I was using a Borland compiler and IDE. I'll be re-learning stuff and just want a good easy to use IDE which is powerful enough without being too intimidating.

The stuff I'll be coding will be mobile Java applications, using the J2ME runtime environment, MIDP and CLDC APIs.

A couple of questions...

Is it possible to get emulators of certain phones to test how the application works?

And...

What are good books on Java programming for mobile devices?

Thanking you!
