After I learn the C++ language, I plan to read a couple books on OpenGL or DirectX. In your guys opinion, what is better? OpenGL or DirectX? What types of things can OpenGL do that DirectX can't and vice versa. Also if you could list the best introduction books to these languages that would be great. Thanks for your help!

Note that DirectX exists of multiple libraries: Direct3D, DirectPlay, DirectInput and DirectDraw. I suppose you mean Direct3D.
I have worked with both, although I didn't do a lot with Direct3D. Let's face it: Direct3D has the shittiest interface of all APIs I have seen so far. OpenGL is easier to understand, fast, and can do everything Direct3D can. |

I'm not very good with OpenGL yet. But from what I have used: it is great.
