Well according to the people I am looking at, and thank you for the post by the way, they should have it done within a few months, February lets say.
As for testing, that is why we have a BETA. Users will be allowed to go on the game before a public release (selected members) and that tests for bugs etc...

It is possible to do it in a few months, witha large team of experienced programmers with motivation (usually large salarys).

Do you know the people personally or just hired them over the internet, thats alot of money you will be dealing with and if you actually do decide to spend that much on it, don't get ripped off.

Take the money you have available for this project and allocate it thusly:

1) 50% stashed away for food.
2) 25% spent on kevlar jockeys.
3) 25% for the programmers.

When it's over, you will have spent the exact same amount for the education. The difference is, you will have eaten, and you won't have been raped.

In the three minutes it took you to read my response (which consequently is less time than it took me to refresh this thread), and reply I seriously doubt your ability to fully appreciate the requirements of testing, and understand the purpose of a 'beta test'.

How exactly do you expect beta testers to sign 1000 accounts on all at once to simulate a huge spontainous login audience.

Assuming 100% uptime is a requirement, how does a server farm balance it's load when one of the machines needs to reboot.

At what point does a server need to reboot itself for the good of the farm.

How many servers can go down before performance starts truly suffering, how many before it become unbearable, additionally hwo many users can a single server handle.

How will your servers deal with Denail of Service attacks, will viruses spread like wildfire through the systems.

What happens when one of your customer's cant access a port will others be available.

These are questions you have to ask with just hardware and base level software questions before you even get into functionality and design and aesthetics and requirments.

Do your homework before you start throwing around your money... me thinks 1 hour of research and you'll find out just how absurd your thinking is.

If I were you, I would create the game yourself, in the form of programming experience. Doing the project serious? Nope. Maybe, when you're lucky that someone gives you money to buy 10 servers if he thinks the game is pretty cool.

Ok, please remember when it comes to programming, I leave it to the professionals. Firstly, these programmers are good friends and know what they are doing and most of what you said, I do not understand but I highly doubt we will have 'thousands' of users within the first year...

Since I feel like being generous today... and I'm in a good mood (besides this thread is relatively amusing) I'll sum up a few points then watch you make up your own mind.

1.) You came here offering a coding job, then proceeded to mention that you have 'trusted friends' that are 'professional programmers' working on the coding for you, either you found some friends quick, or you decided to ask a community of strangers for help before your own friends.

2.) You've asked for a reality check on the amount of money you're offering, the amount of time for the project, and on what langauge to use. You've failed all three of these checks according to an overwhelming majority of the active community here

3.) Not knowing the basics of how the game is actually ran or what it takes to develop such a system shows that either a.) you haven't done your homework, or b.) have tried to learn about things and just don't grasp what's going on

4.) The fact that your 'game' has been refered by yourself as both a chat program and a 'game' shows you don't even know what you want, and are either highly disorganized, or just unable to remember what you say from one moment to the next. Either way not a good way to lead a company.

Until you know what you want, how it will actually get done, and what it takes to get there have fun throwing your money around.

you doubt you will have thousands of users the first year? So optomistic

Don't you think most games sell 1,000 copies in 12 months? I'm pretty sure gmail had 1,000 users in 12 minutes. haha

but good luck with your project. I don't know anything about Lingo, so I can't help ya there!

I have the funding, the Business knowledge and the support.
I just don't have the programmers.

As for the 'trusted friends' as MBirch put it, they are people on my msn list I have known for a long time. I would not call them trusted friends, just friends.
He is busy with his own project and cannot help, even with the amount of payment offered.
Do not forget, when it comes to funding, I have been backed by my school, local college and businesses...Plus a Young Enterprise scheme.
