The iSights have a program that can be used for security actually. It can do multiple cameras and it will do motion detection with the cameras and when somethign happens, it'll send you the clip via email. Pretty sweet.

Ok, so how does this sound. Forget the fact that people don't know what it does, instead it could have choices.

"The program allows users to choose whether they want stills or video, whether they want it to record after a certain period of time, or if they want it to only record when motion is or isn't detected, and lastly if they want to share their footage with other users of the program. The sharing part could be random peer to peer, or it could be set to an IP address if you wanted to share with a friend, relative, or even another web cam of yours in a different location."

Do you guys think that is more interesting and has a lot less perv-potential?

if you make sure people know that their images are gonna be shared then its their fault if they forgot its on and do something stupid in front of it. Hiding that though means your program will be the same as any virus/spyware program and thats a huge no no. Cool idea besides the hiding thing though

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, if there was a message of some kind saying it was recording. Being college students and all; im sure some students will record stuff in their rooms when there with thier girlfriends and stuff like that

As as disclaimers are concerned, you should consult an attorney.

Can anyone think of any other features I should have on it? I feel like it needs something else...but I'm not sure of what.

Python has some nice webcam modules available. Here's how someone made a webcam motion detector (Windows only, I'm afraid).
