I think the term they use is facetious, and quite rightly.

All these words are made up and inserted into obscure dictionaries by bored academics purely to demonstrate the fact that many (stupid) people hold the length of words you use as indicative of your level of education, as well as to engage in a bit of good old snobbery.

Who hasn't ever completely made a longish word up on the spot for the same reasons? People who work in technology seem positively afflicted with the disease, and then you have mutually recursive acronyms.
