so... your going to create a MMOCC thats totally different from all the other ones out there.. but using the same language which i would imagine have the same restrictions and flexibility? I say if you want to create a new, innovative community, use a new language aswell, be different.

That is the problem, unless I find the best programmers in the world, I unfortunatly have to stick with Lingo (and Java).

You would need the best in the world because...? With a few more months of programming hardcore for me, i would be willing to do it for free.. just for the experience. I still need to learn alot about pretty much everything though so i cant help you.

Best in the world because it would take a really good programmer to create an MMOCC in any other language, Lingo and Java, actionscript at the least...
I will get into programming, I hope to learn Lingo, C++ and ColdFusion soon, so I know what I am talking about when I come to speaking with perspective programmers.

It would take just as much effort to code the bugger in any language. These things are not easy. Lingo looks like a piece of crap, and ColdFusion is a piece of crap. If you want to make a browser-based applet, go with Java or Flash, or if you want to make a stand-alone application, I would recommend C++ with a graphics library such as OpenGL.

Yep, I agree with Ooble. And as he said, it is very hard to make and woudl take time, expertise, people, effort and money.

But you must think about security seriously, because one simple exploit could ruin the whole game and force the servers to shut down.

You'll also need to think about how you will store all of that informatation, there will be (if successful) hundreds, if not thousands of registered users, meaning that ech users stats will need to be stored safely alogn with passwords and account details.

And you must decide: browser based or desktop application

And if its a desktop application, you must decide if you want to make it cross platform (for windows, linux and mac) or not, also the language and graphics library.

For the browser based game, browser compatibility iis a priority. Many people use Firefox (including myself) and it is gaining in popularity.

I hate to sound ignorant, but I didn't understand half of that.
I am waiting for my lead programmer to come back from his holiday and then he will post.
I know how much effort needs to go into this game, time and money...Something I have and just need the right help to get the game going.

your birthdate tells me you were born in 1990... I seriously doubt you have the money to do this.

How would you know that?
My parents could be millionaires, but no...I have worked hard and saved quite a lot but the main source of income is grants and funding I have recieved through working with a government funded insititute.
I have also had grants from my school and HSBC.

I dont know what you did to get 6k, but just so you know if you actually plan on using the MMoc or whatever its called once its done, your going to have to pour out well over 10k a year just to host the thing.. unless you only want around 150 people max.
