I'd highly recommend FreeNX for remote desktop control of Linux boxes.

Does it work better than VNC? Because VNC is pretty damn weird on linux boxes

Vista is just asking for too much, you could install XP which is a fabulous operating system on even the shaddiest of boxes and while slow have it work. Vista is asking for at least a gaming computer that can run Doom 3 flawlessly on for the minimal requirements which is what makes me mad most of all.

Aside from that, the DRM crappiness, I still think that they'll change their MO over the whole thing really close to the launch point, it's just a feeling I have. I can't explain it really, but I get the feeling they'll do something weird right around that point.

Both of those make me mad but the thing that still worries me more than anything is the kernel, if they seriously don't make the kernel as good as the NT kernel implemented in win2k and winxp I'm going to kill myself, I'll have to stay tuned to sysinternals to get the low down on vista when it comes out.

Far, far better. I had the task of experimenting with remote desktop access at work for our new Fedora servers. I tried, VNC, plain remote X, and FreeNX. FreeNX was the clear winner by a very large margin. It's fast. Very very fast.

There's a guide on installing it at http://fedoranews.org/contributors/rick_stout/freenx/

I didn't read the earlier posts but i just want to make a statement about Vista because i tried it yesterday.

Although it is still in beta, it does look very promising. It will leave linux in the dust graphics wise, but you can't judge the functionality just yet. For that, we'll have to wait for the full version.

- The whole file system is increadably confuseing. You open "My Documents" and there is eather nothing in it or compleatly random crap. Aparently the "My Documents" Is compleatly gone and it pulls form all folders. Or something like that.
Now, now, Narue, you're overlooking cogent commentary.
