thanks, i used daemon tools
i was installing vista on a second partition just to see how it is, but i didnt have a dvd burner

You can't boot from a DVD using DAEMON Tools or Al-kee-haul. If you have a copy of VMWare or Virtual PC, you can mount an ISO image for use as a drive. Nifty. If you are on a shoestring budget like the best and rest of us, check out Bochs. In the event that you want to install the Vista disc to the HD permanently, just going to have to find a friend with a burner or get one

actually, it did work, and i have vista installed, the dvd is capable of installing while xp is running, it restarts somewhere in the middle and continues, but it worked
