It sounds like you have a configuration, power, or hardware(motherboard or raid controller) problem. But i'll go with DaWei's theory on cosmic rays. It seems to explain all the problems that you've been having lately.

Well, its not accpting my product key. Like I said, it only works onece. So when I got to class today I'll have to take a picuter of the sticker on one of the dells.

Other than that the only thing that acting funny is the top eth port. Thats where the cable was pluged in. I think thats where the proublem is. I bet windows wont boot if there is a network hardware conflict.

That has nothing to do with booting, possibly being able to access the internet, but that is all..

That's illegal, wrong in all levels (stealing from a school) and anyway won't work because you won't have their volume license/corporate edition of XP pro, and it would already be activated. Cosmic radiation sounds likely, but apparently they don't affect cerebal tissue so the pebkac issue is still unsolved. Perhaps some sadistic aliens are blasting high intensity gamma rays at your house.

Cheap LAN cards (the half-sized PCI variety) have a habit of overheating and basically screwing up. Get a decent gigabit replacement, preferably from a reputable manufacturer, but don't LanParty motherboards have the nForce/realtek chipset for their onboard ethernet anyway?

Wow, did you really say that? There is a difference between a valid key and a key that's legal for you to have... unless you bought it, you can't use it. Duh.

Sure, ok, whatever... the solution still remains in Linux.
