Web based version?
I origionaly started a project with the idea of haveing it compleatly web based. That means in order to make it usefull from the desktop it needs to be a active desktop. Then I started programming C# and I decided to make a program version that would communicate with the main server. So what I am wonedring now is do I still need the web version? It would be desplayed the same way just th program version is more user friendly.
So is there any binifit to haveing a web based and a program based version? Do the other major OSs support active desktops? |

What the hell does "Active Desktop" have to do with a web application?

iignotus, he wants to create an application that runs as the desktop background... how moronic, not many users would want a program like that. You seem like the kind of guy who grows up to write ineffective adware and lives in a shack behinds his parents house for the rest of his life...

"Web Applications" still have nothing to do with Windows' Active Desktop feature. Browsers are there for a reason, bja.

ouch, seems like a lot of aggresion
I think there are some things that an active desktop could take advantage. Small information you might want loaded to your desktop instead of having to have everything inyour browser window. If you are making like a full web application i dont think there is a point to having a version for active desktop. My desktop is the background for my work, it is easier to pull up a browser window then to clear off my desktop.

You guys are going in the wrong direction...
The client can choose to have the active desktop or the program. Is there any reason why someone would want active desktop? |

It seems like the active desktop fad kinda died.. for a good reason. They gobbled unnecessary resources and were mostly annoying.
