I was addicted to Warcraft for a long time I wrote some basic mods and a lot of macros for it. I ended my subscription a little while ago to take a break from it, but I think the abilities they gave to modders are awesome.

You said you already wrote the mod to collect the data and store it in an xml, I'm not sure what else you need. I've thought about writing similar programs to keep stats for my guild, but never got to it. If you server program updates from the uploaded xml there is nothing to worry about because that information is already out of wow.

What makes Blizzard consider it a bot is when it creates actions, if you make a bot that simulates keypresses and controls your character, then yes, thats against the TOS and bannable. If you are just recording the information you recieve while playing (you playing, not a bot), then it is fine. Alakazham and Thottbot both do that and dont violate TOS.

I dont believe mods have the ability to log you into the server, this might be along the lines of botting and should be discussed with blizzard first. If you are already logged in it can collect any information automatically
