You sure, you said you use a port scanner. Dont know about ADELPHIA, but Im with BT in the UK and if you use a port scanner you get banned from there ISP forever. ISP,s here moniter computers to see if you are Port Scanning. Stupid yes but with identity theft and all there getting tougher

I don't quite see how port scanners and identity theft are related... most people will just run through proxies and port scan anyway, they aren't really protecting you at all.

@tempest, Yeah my mistake I meant to say like with all the cases about hacking I think they get nervous and just outright ban it so you carnt twist the rules or anything. If I want to use a port scanner I would have to give them a reason why im doing it and then get written permission from them

TOR would probably be far better, its an entire virtual circuit, not just a proxy, and is actually used by the Chinese whose entire government behaves like your ISP. Sounds like you're signed up to one of these new "Parental Peace of Mind" offerings. My provider's expensive, but very good, low latency and a 1:1 contention ratio (they're more of a commercial than domestic supplier) and so they don't care what you do, as long as it's not actually remotely launching intercontinental missiles or summat.
Again the google thing is probably URL filtering imposed by your ISP, similar to what schools and offices do.
