Darkness

This is a project that I might do in the future when I get around to it. Basically, it's a game when you (yes, you) walk around through the woods, old houses, etc in search of a your black cat. (He's lost.) Along the way you run into strange scenery evil woodland creatures and maybe "those things that go bump in the night". You're goal - find your cat! (He's being held captive somewhere by some creature.) How does that sound?

The game will probably be in 3D (or close) and in first person. It should be a lot of fun!

Nice idea, similar to what I was thinking about making in the near future.

Maybe third person might be a good idea as well.
What 3d rendering engine are you planning to use?

God I hope you are using someone elses 3d engine, and don't spend too much time on that game. Cause I'll find that cat, oh yes, I will.

I haven't had experience in 3D. I'm going for a slightly 2D approach.

Let's build on this idea. I'm starting to like it. I could make the game kind of 3D. It would be sort of 3D like, for example, Star Fox. However, it would be more of a puzzle game that a heavy action game like the Super Mario series. I want to be original here. I do know how to make very simple 3D like scenes that only scroll forward. Of course, you'll be able to backtrack. No problem with that. If you discover a hole in the shrubs you can just turn and you will go though the shrubs - no problem - you'll be on a new trail. Consider this game to be like a hike in the woods at night. This is what I have for now.

I'd like to start working on the game but I do need practice in the graphics department. Therefore, I should write a simple graphical game first. As I said this is a project that I may work on the future but don't keep you're hopes up. I don't care if you try to develop the game but if you do I may also develop my own version of it.
