I really think you have a good idea, but finding designers that want to work for less for you that can get more elsewhere is going to be a bitch... i know plenty of the best designers you can get that have tried to get sites like this setup. If you want a boost, start by being a referer for 4templates and you'll get a percentage on your site and have alot more templates to sell...

I agree, but on a sidenote take out the sentences on your website www.bja888.com where you say that your old site was a faliure...not a good impression for a Potential customers

Optimal Source and the bja888 network are not connected...

I'm not really looking for designers, I came here to ask about programmers. Let me worry about the website layouts.

bja888, i'm really trying to help you out. I understand i haven't been as civil in the past, but don't take my words lightly: starting a business like this is going to be very difficult. I know a few people personally who tried to do something exactly like this, and i saw their failure.... If you want this to succeed first look for designers to do your site, and if you're interested look for PHP/MySQL (important) programmers to write scripts for your site. PHP/MySQL is unquestionably the most marketable package, so anything else would just limit your customer base. Once you do that have an affiliate program so that others can hook into your site, etc, and this will help advertise your site.

The three guys who did http://www.templatemonster.com/ went from having regular jobs to millionares in a few months. I would setup your site to sell their templates at first to boost business.

Advertising and SEO are also very important, but remember Advertising is far more important than SEO.

I understand your tring to help, but I'm not going to try and fight these other major companys. I'm not going to quit my job and put all my life foce on this project. I just want some income from it. 1 sale a week and ill be happy as shit. I don't want to be a millionar over night. I just want a possablilty to expand if I feel up for a challenge

That's cool, if i were you i'd just be a reseller and settle for my 50% as a frontend for templatemonster... with correct advertising this could go well enough.

Right now I'm working for a columnist. Keeping has site active. I'm going to try an push him to a re-design. A nother part of my job, the dude get high tech shit all the time and he doesnt have time to mess with it. So he gives it to me, I figure the thing out, tell him what It does and he writes about it.

Its a good hourly rate. Just no that many hours when he is out of the country (like right now) I'm just looking for another form of income.
