I like it quite. Frequent breaks to ease my eyes. Can't code in the night(nights are for sleeping).

My PC, My music - out loud in the room... or not that loud
and the light is on - I don't like working on PC in the dark (maybe only when I play some scary game) - C or C++ preferably (I choose this for my project assignments in the university), nobody in the room or someone not disturbing - just quietly witnessing.. just to know there is company around.. anyway I don't do that hard stuff so coding for me is fun and pleasure... maybe if it was my job, I wouldn't like it that much ?? |

If I play music, I'm usually wearing headphones. Just like the effect.

Linux + vim, I code anywhere, bus, train, office, couch while watching football. I'm sure one environment is more efficient, but they all get the job done..

Relative silence, VS2003, Notepad2 or KDevelop, preferably a 19" LCD, plenty of light and something to drink. I often do the night shift too, far too many distractions during the daytime!
Personal record of about a 36 hour coding session, how about you guys? ![]() |

58 hours straight, coding, debugging, hardware troubleshooting, to avoid incurring a $ penalty for not meeting a ship date. Wife #2 came out at the end of the second day to have dinner with me. Afterwards, she went to my office and read, hung around the rest of the time. The Chief Engineer came back to the lab once, laughing, said the President came to his office, told him one of his employees was just sitting in her office, reading "dime novels."

Man do I love to hear stories like that, reminds me how close to reality Dilbert & Office Space really is. ![]() My favorite enviornment is Saturday morning. My girl leaves for work when its still dark. So I get up and watch the sun rise while typing away with a large coffee in front of me and some classical selection easing me into my day. I will often catch a late night spree as well. Those usually include some sort of trance techno, a few good sticks of 'Nag Champa' and possibly a vodka & cranberry.
