microsoft beta products

hey i just ordered visual studio 2005 beta 2 as a cd/dvd through the mail like four days ago and have it now. they said like 2-6 weeks but nah...

it also came with microsoft SQL server 2005 beta.

just like $6.00 s/h guys... a great opportunity to get your hands on one of these for next to free. oh, and the MSDN library for the associated products.

I got it, too, blood, and very rapidly, but the 2005 CD (one of 3 cds) is unreadable. I'll chase it down one of these days, I guess. I have the C++ part as a download, anyway.

wow nice price... is that including a shipping&handeling ?

FYI, there is and alternative to Microsoft .NET called Mono.

Have you guys try MONO? I really like Microsoft .Net 1.1, but when I install the 2.0 (beta version) it corrupted my Windows XP (home) and it gave me a blue screen. which is I have updated to SP2 and lates security.

Microsoft .Net 1.1 is working find in my Computer, but not 2.0(Beta).

hmm... I might try out MONO and let you guys know. if you have any knowledge of MONO please let me know. I believed MONO is simillar to Microsoft .Net, but it's created mainly for other operating system to run .Net applications created with MONO and Microsoft .NET

I hope Novel & Microsoft are getting along and I also hopping Microsoft will adopt OpenSource.... (IMPOSIBLE to be true)

If there any incorrect informations or mistake in this post. Please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks for the info guys...

yes, the price of it is $0.00

the shipping and handeling are about $6.00.

and i had to upgrade to SP2 before i could do this.

and to dawei, my cd's/dvd's whatever work fine, but at least you got what counts!

the one problem i have had with the microsoft beta downloads is that, when installed, they do not create an icon on the desktop for you...you have have to search for the .exe's.

but it's a cool deal...let me see if i can find a link for this...

thanks for the info, i will download them (or at least try to) when I get home... since they are DVD downloads. I don't have a DVD burner available to me at work.

i use mono here at work to develop stuff in C#. Mono is only C#, nothing else. It allows the development of cross-platform .NET apps. Just as long as you use the right libs :-)
