Ugh. I'm gonna share in DaWei's distress on this one. What is it with the amount of people who can't gracefully take correction?

XHTML/HTML, of course. It's not an XHTML only thing. As said before, it's subject to disabling on the client side. The mailto protocol is just a nifty way for a webpage to try and tell a web-browser to open up a compose email window with some information filled in, nothing more. Any method that opens a new webpage that begins with "mailto:" falls under this category, so using an anchor, a form submit, a meta page refresh, a JavaScript window re-direct, whatever, will do the same thing.

If you want a slightly more full-proof method create a server-side script that uses tools on the server to send an e-mail using whatever programming language you choose (PHP has the built-in mail function, for example). You can then create a HTML form and pass the text from a textbox in the form to the server-side script that will send the e-mail. Voila.

I would say you would be hard put to point out an attack or a "freaking out" that would be perceived as such by any rational person. I'd have to guess you're some re-registered person from the recent past....

Nope. Completely new. I used to frequent Computing.net but got tired of all the homework posts. I came here via Google.

DaWei,
Lets start again, shall we?

I don't want to worry about this trivial issue any more.

Sorry for posting anything that you took as an attack. I will recind (since i don't know how to remove) my posts.

Ok I was able to delete all my posts except the first one? why is that, does it have to do with the fact that I clicked Quick Reply button on the 2nd post and there were others posted already? I don't know.

I don't think you'll see anything in my posts indicating that I think you attacked me. Every thing I see is just the opposite. Feel free to quote it, as I'm half blind and may have forgotten that I attacked you, as well.

One of the reasons I'm perceived as a SOB is that I tend to point out inaccuracies and misperceptions, as they may mislead a newbie, to his/her detriment. I give out bum information, myself. When it's pointed out to me, I do two things: apologize for misleading, and learn from it. When it's not pointed out, I don't learn.

At Pizentios, I say: the nearest I came to a flammable remark was, "Read the thread with some modicum of attention." and the incoherency/panties thing. All that came after the "WTF DaWei? Why are you bustin my chops in yet another forum?". I don't even know what that means, until and unless the guygirl identifies himself by some other name I recognize.

Heh, DaWei is the oldest (or atleast last time i checked) member we have here. Trust me, that was not an attack. He's just a little gruff sometimes but his help and knowledge are a great assest to the forums. I think you've read into it a little more that needed :-)

One thing to remember, if you don't like what somebody says on the forums, you don't have to reply to their post. ignoring them is probably the best thing you can do, that goes for pretty much every forum out there.

@DaWei: i wouldn't worry, i couldn't see anything in your posts that would piss me off

I know ChiHappens from back in the computing.net programming forums... where I used to frequent prior to PFO. He's a good guy and can contribute a great deal to our community.
