ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Everyone always says VB. Those who say that mean both VB and VB.NET, yet they probably haven't taken the time to see how much of an improvement the .NET edition is. Yes, old-style VB did have it's failings and it did lead to some really shoddy stuff being produced, but VB.NET is now fully object oriented and has all the features of the .NET framework. I am a big fan of VB.NET and would recommend it as a teaching language, providing the person learning would go on to learn something else later to gain a broader knowledge of programming.

I think the worst programming language is Pascal. The only good thing it had was that arrays were more logical as they started with 1 and not 0. However, it has zero commercial and real world scope so it's pointless teaching it in colleges - yet they continue to do so. I should know - that was the first language I wa taught. Files were huge and although it was supposed to be OOP, it looked so procedural.

Other languages have arrays based at 1, but why should they? Numbers don't start there. If isn't the value you get if you clear a binary storage location.

Arrays start at 0. And I agree: Pascal is the worst programming language I've ever used. It's evil! Evil I say!

Ooble, you don't know Evil until you see Prolog (the language). In one exam, we had to write a three liner Prolog program. The question was worth 20 points on a 100 scale.
Prolog is the dirtiest, sneakiest, ugliest, and most complicated and impossible to debug language on the face of earth. I think that qualifies it to be the worst programming language ever.
