Hey.. my 2nd post

so i'm new to programming and im going to start my last year at school soon and i was considering the possibility of studying computer science (software engineering) in university. But my father sayd that ALOT of ppl take computer science nowadays and that the possibilities of getting ajob in a good company is very low. what do u guys think? yes ? no?
And do u think its too late for my to consider studying sofware engineering now that im already in my last year and i dont have the good foundation of a programmer or can i make up for lost time and still become a good programmer.
