Linux Gaming

This somewhat goes along with the Desktop Linux thread. What do you use for gaming on Linux? Personally I don't play that many games when on Linux, but some of the arcade games for X are a good distraction. KBounce is my favorite.

Cedega has been coming along. It looks that you can play a wide variety of the latest windows games -- assuming you have 3D acceleration. I managed to get the proprietary ATI drivers working, but at a performance hit versus on Windows.

Wow. You're a gamer? First of all, using Linux sucks for gamers. Second, if you are going to suffer through Linux gaming, I can't imagine doing it with an ATI. Seriously, how hard would it be to repartition and install Windows? ya ya Linux is great but not when you're using it to run 'doze apps.

Cedega supports the Grand Theft Auto games, the very recently released Battlefield 2, and a huge variety of others. World of Warcraft runs on plain Wine. I can't agree with you on not being great for running Windows games. As for ATI, yeah, thats a problem. NVIDIA is much better supported, but it's working isn't it And I still have my Windows partition for games and Visual Studio. Don't have Cedega...yet.

Seriously though why even use linux for gaming. And if you're too poor to afford a Windows license you should be finding a job not playing computer games

How many users here use Linux and which distro?
I believe, most of the people in this forum use Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional...Am I right?

If u do use GNU/Linux...state your distribution!

I believe that's going on in the Debate Club in the "best desktop linux" thread.

Yeah haven't gotten a chance because I broke my Fedora when I tried to install the ATI drivers.

Now I just get a blank screen after the bootup process.
