I'm afraid to say you should disregard the previous post - the w3schools tutorials are full of hundreds of small errors - I think someone counted 11 on the first couple of pages.
CSS is really simple to learn (what's difficult about key:value pairs and selectors?), but hard to gain a thorough knowledge of browser's quirks and "what supports what". Making things actually look good with CSS is another thing that nothing but practice can teach.
