i found the pdf version to be the best. if you on windows download the zip version and on linux i would personally go with the tar.gz but anyway if you download the pdf version you get like 10 files. and i think it is everything you possibly need to know about python. the tut you where reading is there too

edit: http://www.python.org/doc/current/download.html
i forgot to post the url

Blasphemy!!! Google is god.

I don't know python, but K's link seems to be pretty good.

I'm working on some Python tutorials to post on the site. I've sort of halted progress on them due to summer projects for school I need to start, but I'll get them up ASAP

I posted awhile ago about the tutorials just not doin it for me.

So, I went out and bought a book. If you can afford it, I find it better because the book is right there next to me and I move along at a great pace. Cost me 30 bucks for about 700 pages of Python.

3 days of tutorials and I was lost. 1 Chapter of the book and some help from these forums, Ive the got basics of the basics down in less than a day.

This worked for me, can't say the same for everyone of course.

'Practical Python' by Magnus Hetland

Can't say for sure if it's a good book or not because Im only on chapter 2

But it was much clearer for me after chapter 1 and halfway into chapter 2 than any tutorial.

i agree having a book beside you is far better than stairing into a screen intill all hours of the night.

helps if you work somewhere with a fast laser printer that nobody's watching. i've probably printed over 3,000 pages of crap at work. i have half a bookshelf full of binders with different programming tutorials/subjects/etc.
