Experienced programmers-

Why are we here at programmingforums?

Are we here to belittle posters and prove how incredibly stupid their questions are?
To demotivate new programmers so they will give up?
To troll every post so we can increase our post count?
To toot our own horn and brag about our level of experience?
To simply be a smartass because we can?
To post condescending comments concerning other programmers here?
To attack every poster because it makes us feel more important?
To answer in a vague riddle that few care to decipher?
To make sarcastic remarks that we perceive as a boost to our ego?

The list could continue but I will defer and mention why I had hoped the experienced programmers are here.

To assist and direct new programmers toward the proper methods of accomplishing a given task.
To help build confidence in those who seem unsure and offer guidance for those who don't know where to begin.
To generously offer our knowledge based on years of experience in the field.
To donate something extremely valuable back to the programming community, our time.

I recognize some real talent at this forum. I think many may have highly successful careers in the programming or tech fields. I believe that we sometimes forget that we are not dealing with one of our employees but simply someone trying to learn and hoping for a gentle push in the right direction. I'll be the first to admit that I may have dished out my fair share of abuse here and at other forums. I think this is the wrong approach and maybe no comment would have been the correct response.

On a lighter note, I'm very excited about all the newcomers here and I hope to learn from you all.

Have a great day!
