Heres a scenario.

I have two games.

One game will run on my overclocked graphics card, artifacts are far and few between but they do appear sometime. This game will run though, with no crashes or failures as a result of the excessive stress the GPU is under.

The other game will not run on my overclocked graphics card, no time for artifacts as the thing freezes in under a minute. Whats worse, when I underclock down to the default settings for the GPU the game will run for longer but still eventually crash.

I believe there is a difference between the way these two games interface with the API. One is obviously tolerant of failed render or aspects of the render and the other is not.

I would like to suggest to the developers of the game that freezes, to change their coding to work in a way like the game that doesnt freeze. Problem is that Im not a super 3d coding guy and so Im not sure how to describe myself. The developers of the freezing game appear to believe in their way and so I feel a change would only be considered by them if I were to describe it in a technically accurate fashion.

now - is anyone here knowledge on such matters?

thanks!
