I was asking for the advice of the programmers here as to which book, or website with information on C++ would benefit me.

I know there are many many books, and many many websites out there. I am asking for advice on which ones are good and can benefit me.

pal, can you please show me in my post where I asked for a search engine, or for your rudeness?

Hi Komodo,

What pal gave you is good links, however sarcastic it may seem. This topic is covered constantly, have you tried a search of the forums?

Why, look at all the information pertaining to a 'book' search at our fingertips here: Results

This page looks good for beginners. I came across it before and I think the first few lessons are good for getting started. But remember because you already know PHP, you will know a few of the C/C++ constructs too.

lol at your response to pal, by the way, but maybe a bit uncalled for.

C++ How to Program 5th Edition by Deitel and Deitel. It's easily one of the best C++ books I've ever used. The 5th Edition introduces Class and Objects earlier than the 4th edition does. It's also suppose to have smaller chapters.

Sorry if I seemed to be a little harsh... I deal with unintelligent, rude, and impudent people all day monday through friday at school/work; I sometimes flip out on people who are like that when I'm not at school/work. Ya just get sick of them kinda people ya know?

Thanks for the book recomendation, Ghosty.
Thanks for the link, Kirkl.

Typing in books brings up threads that have subjects that don't really suggest to me that they contain what I am looking for... except a few... meh.

Just want to be clear, the results I posted were books from the C++ forum. Not the forum in general.

I didn't find pal 'unintelligent and rude' at - all what he gave were legitimate links. Your 'untelligent' remarks seems ignorant seeing as how you only entered books in a search instead of tweaking it.

Those results and the C++ tutorials on the main fourm have plenty of what you're looking for.

But komodo, searching around this forum is a great idea. There have been lots of great resources posted in similar threads. Good luck!

Practical C++ by Que... is a book that I recommend all people involved in C++ to have on their shelf.
