protected executable

any ideas on how i could bypass a protected executable, when i try opening the file it says "this has been protected and is not authorized for use on this system"

I was thinking perhaps spoofing the DLL files it checks to see if it's the right system, but how would i go about doing this...any suggestions at all?

Learn Assembly and disassemble it.

Seriously, that's probably the best way of doing it. Unless you already know ASM, I suggest persuading someone else to do it for you.

Hmm, sometimes certain programs actually require a hardware 'dongle' to be connected to a port. Not sure how common this is these days, but they used to do it with programs like Autosketch and Cubase. This can be pretty difficult to combat; generally, like everyone here has already said, you need to pick the program apart and see if you can figure out where it checks if it's authorised and patch it so it always thinks it is.

Often, this is just not worth the hassle. For many types of program you'll probably find there's a free alternative (see http://freshmeat.net/ for example).

Can you stop talking about cracking, this forum isn't for that! If you want to crack, go to a cracking site, learn asm, download some crackme's...

After that I am sure you will understand what you need to do with that sort of protection.
