I personally like books better than online tutorials. Just make sure you get an up-to-date one. PHP is pretty easy to pick up the basic syntax, but you'll probably heave a lot of questions along the way, in which you can post on this forum, especially when you start using it in real situations. I just started too, and I know I have questions all the time, but I just post them here.

But definitley add php.net to your favorites!

If you know C++, PHP will definitely be a breeze.

http://www.phpfreaks.com has some good beginner tutorials.

Also search google for 'Web Monkey' I'm not sure of the exact address for thier site but they have so dated but good beginning PHP tutorials.

I found the PHP manual hard to understand at first but once you get the basics down the PHP manual is your best friend and resource.
