Looking forward to learning python but...
Hi!
New guy #7238120 here I'm looking for some new challenge, so I recently decided to switch to Python from PHP. Wanna brush up my skills in OO programming and Python holds some interesting features in both the webscripting and the 'plain' programming arena. I'm kinda of a just-try-it-and-learn-as-it-happens type of person, so I was wondering: is there some site that documents Python the way PHP is documented? For instance, a website that covers most commands and explaining the options to them, searchable? |

Thanks! I'm afraid I already saw that page though, and it's not entirely what I meant. I'm really looking for something like a reference guide, where I can lookup Python commands real quick and easy. Something like http://php.net/mysql_select_db.
But strawling around over the 'net, it seems that information on how - for example - to build Python and Mysql powered website is scattered all over the place. Pitty. But nevertheless a new challenge, in more than one way ![]() |

http://docs.python.org/lib/lib.html http://docs.python.org/ref/ref.html both those should be something like your looking for.

Don't sweat it. You're anxious to get going. I can respect that. Just don't lose focus when you reach a point where things aren't right in front of you. Some things require a little searching and patience.

Trial and error... nothing ever works as expected from the start... leave plenty of time and patience for workarounds.
