Really good quickstart tutorial indeed, and very straight, I have 2 corrects.
1. You can't assign a variable to 1 as in "4b. Sidetracked" 2. print = dbase["a"] is print dbase["a"] Thank you for this tutorial.

Not adding .py to your file's name is really the fault of the rather dated IDLE program and not of Python. Use one of the more modern free IDEs like SPE or DrPython.
