A friend of mine swears by Python... in his personal time he uses it to make ebuilds and mods for Gentoo. I've personally never used it to an extent to where I could claim to "know" it. Too many languages, not enough time. I'll have to look at some of those links this weekend, thanks for posting them.

I found the book written by O'Reilly (I think that's the guy) to be very helpful.

Sorry bout that The actual authors are Mark Lutz and David Ascher. But I did find the book (Learning Python, the 2nd Edition) to be very helpful. Here's a link to the site http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lpython2/

There's a sample chapter online also if you want to get a feel for the book.
