Hi, can anyone recommenda good book on Java? I want to teach it to myself. I already have a basic knowledge of programming concepts, so I don't really need a book that, for example, tells me what a "variable" is. Can anyone recommend anything?

I found Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel pretty good. If you decide to buy it, check it out and make sure that it's what you want, though.

I just looked for Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel on google and came up with that page. I have downloaded the file as well and looks rather interesting.

I quite like Walter Savitch's "Java: An introduction to computer science and programming"
I also have "Learning Java" from O'Reilly, and it's pretty good too.

If it is Java 2 you wish to learn then buy Java 2 for dummies, I find the dummies book very good then i move onto more advanced material, just a suggestion though.
