Nah, an '87 born would be a senior right now.

A job description for a beginning programmer has a requirement of a college level study in computer science, finishing with a BS or MS degree. If you don't have this, tough luck!
Says you. I have a quite good job for not even graduating highschool. All you need is some knowledge and the desire to learn and keep learning. Also being out going helps alot, since most bosses like that sort of thing. And nothing helps you get a job like dressing up and getting a new hair cut. Looking good goes along way while trying to get a job....and it doesn't hurt with the ladies :-)

I'd rather just go to a programming/computer science college and learn more about programming and develop my game than to go to college and party all the time.
Trust me, get all the partying out of your system when your young. If you start doing it when your old, you'll end up being an alcoholic.

I'm sixteen (born in '88) and a junior in high school.

Anyway, I make decent money freelance programming at 16. It wouldn't be enough to live off of, but putting 75% towards college cash and 25% towards spending money, keeping my other half happy, etc; I'm pretty comfortable. Though that's with no bills to pay...like I said, it probably wouldn't be enough to live off of. It does me well for now though.

I've started a web design business, and I love coding, but I want to go to university. Aiming for a course in Computing & Artificial Intelligence in Imperial College, London (the best place for Computing in the UK).

This message is for Floppie:

What's freelance programming? How do you make money off of that? And how much money do you make?

Oops, don't know how the 7 slipped in. Would be nice to be ten years older though. Then I would have a car, a house, and maybe even a thing to nag me to death at home.

Is this a case of garbage in garbage out?

Heck, I leave the 77 in there, can always dream that way!

For the young people in here... keep coding, learn the new technologies... this will give you an edge if and when you go to college. Most job offers I see require a college education AND experience. Sure you can get a job without a college degree and a well paying one at that... but that implies that you be skilled, flexible, a team player, willing to learn, etc... some employers may even send you to college. But when the employer is looking at possibilities, they see you and someone else as potentials... problem is the other person has the degree so you don't get the job. On the other hand also, its not always what you know, its who you know.
