- mainly because Im not a jerk like these other guys and Im possibly the nicest person you'll ever meet that -

Wow, talk about arrogant and belligerent. Obviously you aren't, seeing how you contradicted yourself by insulting the people who posted here. A true gentleman would of retracted that statement--ergo, you aren't the nicest person he'll ever meet.

And Hockeyman, if you want to argue semantics, take a sociology class. The point I was getting at is that it's all opinion. Por ejemple, who defines that a car -has- to go from point a to point b in order to define it as a car? You? I may think otherwise and it would be perfectly acceptable, seeing is how every mind is differen't and it may or may not percieve things differently. You would think that one would have a much easier time online, versus trying to defend his point from a smartass or being insulted by a hypocritical man, eh?

ANYways, at least someone helped the man with his problem (seeing how I can't, being that I don't know C++). Guess Xero earned some brownie points there.

OE - I meant that as a light-hearted humourous interlude - definately NOT a dig and/or retort to your comments, nor an argument on semantics - note the humourous [humour] tags which surround my entire post. I had hoped that people reading it would realize I was trying to be funny and smile a bit (as Ooble apparently did).
If I offended you, I apologize - I assure you it was not my intent.

As a side-note - while Xero's code will compile and run flawlessly, I'm pretty sure it won't satisfy the requirments of the homework assignment Breskoad was trying to get a free pass on (Breskoad - if you read this, i wouldn't hand in what Xero gave you )

This went from a simple inquiry to a war of words

Too bad I got to this thread too late... For everyone's awareness... "dummy" is used as a variable to denote a useless value to be discarded, a placeholder of sorts... chances are Ooble was not calling the thread hijacker a dummy.

Xero said:

" Umm thats such bull. If its a sample from a book, they're most likely going to have some sort of explaination.

They wouldn't just put an example in a book and do nothing.

So I think believe its homework, and I dont see how it could be that much trouble if you actually read the book. Its only a few simple concepts. Heres a hint... Look up "cout", "cin", "local varaiables", and "simple arthmatic."

Xero, your totally wrong. I learned c++ on a book called:

c++: An introduction to computing

and it had numerous examples throughout the book (usually 20 or so at the end of the chapter for every chapter) that had no explanation or source code at all. Yes, there were obviously examples that went into detailed explanations during each chapter (because the author had to teach something) but there were over 200 examples total that weren't answered at all. They were a "attempt" sort of exercise.

So Xero, stop harassing people and go suck a nut. This thread is for learning purposes. Take your trash elsewhere.
