For my senior capstone project my group will be creating a web-app with a database for a local charity.

What I am looking for is some direction from others who have created or played with a similar program that I will describe shortly.
I believe that our project has the potential of being a little complex and unfortunately our university does not offer courses that give us a lot of experience coding web projects; it mainly emphasizes theory.

what we are planning on constructing is a very simple website that consists of forms that allow the user to purchase certain products. It must have a database that will keep track of the inventory, orders, where proceeds were spent (like buying more food or toilet paper), shopping cart, email monthly reports to the owner, etc.

It must have a back-end where an employee with privileged access can update the database when stock arrives, can access and generate a report if needed, etc.



Although this is not all of the requirements I think i provided enough for you.

What type of framework or programming language/libraries would you recommend for this project? Mainly the database operations as its quite obvious html/javascripts will be used. And any other advice you wish to throw our way would be appreciated.

For your project php & mysql is more than perfect :-) php is easy to code and mysql is free and easy too.
I think that, this is the fastest way to realize your project. Good luck ;-)
