Knoppix is mostly designed to be used as a live CD, so why don't you try one of the other linux distrobutions for your dual-boot?
For someone not very expirianced with linux and dual-booting, i'd recommend Mandrake, it makes setting up the dual-boot really easy, and its easier to get everything running under mandrake then, say, slackware.
