Programmers Needed! Online Game
Hello,
I made a post a while back about wanting programmers. I posted up a little concept document. But now we have changed over, and we have a 202 page Design Document. I'm not going to post it here for security reasons. But I'll post a bit about the game. *** Class balance is not the games driving force. Now that EQ2 is out those that feel every class should be in the same mold and work pretty together can go play that. In this world there would be 17 separate classes at release each designed around the classes role in life and always the fun factor. Some will be better than others at certain things and that is just the way it is. However each one will have an incredible feel and playability factor. And yes they are very similair in design to how the EQ1 classes are on some points. *** Each class from moment one is able to be customized by the player themselves. This varies from the look of the character down to the playstyle and building of the character. No more "You have gotten better at picking your nose (51)" The player will always decide the areas they wish to be strongest in. *** No two people of the same class will ever be the same. Each character will choose areas of specializing. Example: Sorcerers all have 3 areas of spells. Magic, Fire, Cold. at some point each sorcerer will choose one of the areas to excel in and become much better in that area. This will create situational needs where one may truly shine over another but none will ever feel left out. *** The world will exist in a PvP format that will follow strict rules that govern it's use but allows for open warfare. One can become a criminal by the senseless killing of others and the world will reward those that play the good vs evil concept. *** Reaching the highest level does not end the game but rather allows the players to finally partake in competitions that would be held monthly. By winning so many tournaments players will reach a new status of power that will unlock even more interesting features. *** Guilds will be able to buy their own land and build their own town that will feature discounts and unique features for guild members. The guild will be able to hire out guards and caretakers that will help defend the town. There will be built in guild management systems and even a game working points system for guilds to use. *** There will be guild warfare like no one has ever seen before. Features that alllow even the smallest of guilds to one day catch a bigger one sleeping and be rewarded handsomely for it. *** There is an incredible storyline to the world that will always be developing. The game will feature game changing interaction continuously. Think of the legends server on EQ1 and it's features only not having to pay extra for it. *** The game will feature a combat system that actively keeps the players inolved and strikes a nice balance between EQ1 style and EQ2 style but no group debt. *** The death system is really a combination of many games all rolled into one with some new radical concepts. There is a penalty for dying but no long run from somewhere and no group stopping features. *** The merchant and tradeskill society is all to itself and lends to merchants actually hiring out other players as bodyguards on occasion. *** The game is designed around a 50/50 split of solo content and group content. At anytime a player can go to where they want to without fear of trains or the content being so watered down that grouping is the only option. Of also note the game will have to feature a system that recognizes party strength and adjusts for that. *** The game will feature an EQ2 style of graphics quality and full immersion. The world from day one will be expansive and an incredible amount of content yet not so spread out that no one can see the next guy. *** Quests will be a cornerstone of the game play and one item may feature up to 5 separate random quests that can get it. Spoiler sites will be screaming over that one. To explain some finer points I must also point out that the classes do not work off the typical Wisdom, Strength, Agility modifiers but rather Ability Points. Each class will earn AP xp and regular xp that they will dictate the difference of. Once an AP is earned they then apply that to any number of areas that in turn help build the character up. We are looking for some Programmers in C++. A knowledge with servers would be an added bonus. Note: This is not a paying Job, until game is released So this would be a perfect project to build your resume (and maybe even find a full time job) So please Visit our forums at: http://s3.invisionfree.com/PvP_Isles/index.php? or Email me at: troyeisert@gmail.com Thanks, -Troy Last edited by troy_eisert; Jan 29th, 2005 at 12:40 PM. |
