Our squash club has this idea that the club ladder could be maintained and updated more efficiently on a computer. I asked around and they said enter the data in excell and use macros, thats all very well if you know what you're doing and where to start. Can anyone help?

I would use an access database with a frontend...with the frontend independant from access if possible. If not, access lets you make forms and crap like that right in it. I don't like excel that much though.

yeah me too, but they might not want the info to beable to seen from outside. I know there are things that you can do to limit access from the net to a cetain page, but there are ways and means. WAYS AND MEANS DAMIT!

Bear in mind if he can not figure out Excel without asking for help, that chances are he really hasn't even a clue what PHP and mySQL are... much less how to use them (same goes for Access).

Perhaps it would be easiest to find some shareware that does that, I am sure there are a million and one little code project freely downloadable to matain a ladder for your Squash club.

True, it would be best to find a freeware program to do this if you are not sure about the process. There is no need to re-invent the wheel when you don't have to.
