The Global Financial Crisis

So, with all the talk of a recession happening at any moment, is anyone suffering from it?

Nope. I haven't noticed anything. A whole lot of panic and no visible changes for me; just a whole lot of corporations whining about the rising prices of their commodities from what I can see.

If you ask me, people should be showing sympathy for the inflation rate in Zimbabwe. Their currency has inflated 231,000,000% over the past 1 year. They had $100,000,000,000 bills which were worth only 16 cents, and 45% of the population will be dead from starvation, in the next month, if the devaluation of their currency continues.

My guess is that my 401k has lost half it's value, but hell, I won't be retiring anytime soon anyway, so it's got time to recover.

Someday I should figure out how to play the stock market, but to be honest every spare penny goes to paying for my mortgage right now, once that's done we'll see.

They said that the gas prices should raise like hell, but I haven't seen any changes. Besides that, I don't even own stock, but my parents do and they haven't suffered from the "crisis".

Re: The Global Financial Crisis

I was going to invest £5000 in a few oil and gas companies and put £300 a month into it but I never got round to doing it. I think I made a wise choice

Re: The Global Financial Crisis

A bunch of manufacturing businesses around here are closing down. Don't know if it is related or not, (my guess is yes, but I'm no analyst). My dad works for a place that makes car parts, and a bunch of people are being layed-off there. As for me, I can't wait until the new macbooks come out on Tuesday.
