Talking Newbiiieee

Hi everyone,

My name is Charles and I'm 18, current nickname of the moment is Chaz so call me what you like! I work as a support technician at a software company helping with both the companies' rostering systems and general hardware/third party software problems. At the moment it's just general things such as AD, network problems and the odd third party software problem such as office or IE but it's not really going very far from there...unless I learn some languages!

Because of our programmes using SQL, I have learnt the basics of it (select, insert, update, delete, join etc all on www.w3schools.com) and a small amount of action script but want to learn more languages not just SQL.

Hobbies if you give one, include poker and downloading things a lot really on my laptop!

Anyway I want to move forward job-wise and figured a forum might help....

Cheers

Welcome to PFO

This forum will deffinately help you out, from basics to advanced someone here more than likely more than one person will be able to point you in the right direction, regardless of what language you choose.

My advice once you have chosen a language grab a book. People are more than happy to recommend good books.

Enjoy

Chris

Re: Newbiiieee

Welcome to the forums. I heartily recommend giving C# a try. It should be a fun and easy language for a beginner, and it's powerful enough that you don't have to abandon it for something else to write larger programs.

Re: Newbiiieee

I agree, C# would be a very good start, and is also very easy to use with SQL database Files.
You can download the All in one DVD for Visual Studio and get your hands on MS Visual C# '08.
I haven't looked back yet.
