Cipher Challenge School Project

Hello everyone, my algorithms teacher told us to look for an algorithm solving this problem and explaining it, help is very appreciated as we are not that deep into algorithms yet.

Given a list of 4, 5, 6 ... or 10 integers (between 1 and 100) find the way of getting another integer between 1 and 2000, using only the basic operations: add, substract, multiply and divide. each number in the list can only be used once.

challenge: design, implement and document a solution to the problem, faster than the example program (which I will link later", for sizes between 6 and 10, and that it cannot lose a solution, the program must indicaite all the reachable numbers between 1 and 2000, using the input data.

here is the link, if you need help understanding it just let me know, drop me a message or something

http://dis.um.es/%7Eginesgm/files/cifras.exe

thanks in advance!

Re: Cipher Challenge School Project

Why don't you tell Dr. Gines Garcia Mateos that you do not understand the assignment.... or perhaps email him. I won't post his email address here, to avoid the spambots flooding him with email.

You need to attempt your own school work first, to at least show effort on your part. If you still need help, ask specific questions... not for your work to be done for you.

The last time I took the effort to contact a professor (UK) of a student that posted his assignment to the forum and asked that the program be emailed to him.... the computer science faculty conducted an academic review of the student and their decision was to expel him from the university. So I rather that not happen to you.

Done:

int i = 1000;

Dr. Ginos Tacos whatever, is not clear on this assignment. But I doubt the answer I gave is something that he wants.

Re: Cipher Challenge School Project

Show us what code you have written so far, then we can take a look at it and help you or point you in the right direction.

Just a heads up...
When I click on the link a .exe opens and for that I believe you could get flamed for that.
As in, thoroughly flamed.

Re: Cipher Challenge School Project

Not that it matters much, but the Dr. I referred to is the website where this file (your assignment) is hosted. I assumed he was your professor and you are paying him to teach you.

Cool website he has though, allthough I don't understand the language, I can still make out the code examples!
hehe
