Re: Anything I can do?

I just bought a new Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Love them because there are no cords, and was dirt cheap -- $49.00 USD.

Re: Anything I can do?

hehe, mine has a cord so when it falls it actually bunjee jumps in a way.
But the last time it fell I was playing DoomIII and ran into a hellknight or something.
hehehe.

Oh, mouses are very cheap, and I agree with Ancient Dragon on the choice.
:-)

Re: Anything I can do?

I don't like wireless, I like a constant charge. Batteries are bad for the environment and any appliance you can run from with a cord instead of a battery is always better. Think of the millions upon million of batteries sitting in landfills(even though its not the proper way of disposal) just from wireless mouses. Not saying you just toss your used batteries in the regular trash Acient Dragon, but I think the average person does.

Re: Anything I can do?

I bought rechargable batteries and a recharger. I don't know how long they will last because this is my first experience with them. But hopefully, at the rate of 4 times the cost of normal batteries they will last at least 4 times longer than normal batteries.

Speaking of all the batteries sitting in landfills that will take thousands of years to deterioriate, did you see the recent artlcle about all the plastic bags that are in the ocean ? There's at least one place that's the size of the state of Texas. We are destroying our environment with all this crap. (This picture is actually from a different article, but serves the purpose well)

Seriously? You've never bought them until now? I've been using them for years, and yes, if you get a good brand, they certainly last longer. The newer NiMH ones last noticeably longer than the NiCd ones, but both battery chemistries will lose charge if unused much faster than alkaline ones will. This isn't usually a big deal- it just means don't use them in smoke detectors, emergency flashlights, etc unless you remember to regularly check them.

On a related note, I came across an article a few days back about a local (to me) company that's developing fuel cells small enough to fit in portable consumer devices. The prototype testing used Motorola SLVR phones, and they reported longer charge life than Li-Ion batteries, and the kicker was they can be refuelled quite fast (on the order of ten minutes, apparently). I'm not sure what the TCO of these things will be like, but cost aside, it's looking pretty promising.
