Re: Sane's Monthly Algorithms Challenge #3 [07-08]

Yay! I think I've got the ideal algorithm at this point. Thanks for the interesting test case Sane.

Here's another test case. It's nothing special, I figure it'll help somebody.

Well done. I was a bit nervous about making this a senior, because it's a toughy. But I've seen some of your stuff before and know it's nothing beyond your level. Looking forward to seeing your solution.

Submitted (and bump, in case anyone else is forgetful like me).

Here are a couple of test cases for pipes:

Re: Sane's Monthly Algorithms Challenge #3 [07-08]

Thanks.

By the way, there will likely be no problem set next month. Not too many submitted this month, and I will be too busy moving out, going to Waterloo, Winnipeg, Egypt, etc... Thanks and hopefully this isn't the last time.

Re: Sane's Monthly Algorithms Challenge #3 [07-08]

I'm leaving tomorrow morning and will not be back for seven days. Until then late submissions are of course welcomed. Results and solutions will consequently come later.

These look quite fun. If the deadline's been extended I'll try my hand at these, since I haven't done algorithm intensive programming for a while.

have fun moving Sane, i've got some code for this for the beginner challenge i'm even going to try and add a way of breaking the message without the specified rotation amount.

Re: Sane's Monthly Algorithms Challenge #3 [07-08]

Thanks. I'm back now.

After 5 hours of hard work, I think I'm happy with the test data I've made. Asteroids and stocks were very difficult to make good test data for, so hacky solutions might be able to do better than they should.

I will write the formal analysis for each question either tonight or tomorrow morning and try to grade and post everything by tomorrow evening. For now I've got to get back to my training.
