iPhone 2

I was thinking of picking one up, any thoughts from all of you?

I mostly want to use it for the web and email.

Re: iPhone 2

I have the first generation iPhone. I actually don't like it all that much. Although the newer iPhones suppose to have a better network backbone... to allow for faster browsing, etc. I'd compare the iPhone to other smart phones, just to be sure you want to go that route. Another downfall to the iPhone is that I was wanting to do development work for it, but I do not own a Mac... and don't plan on getting one just to write code for the iPhone.

Re: iPhone 2

At least it is affordable now. I do remember last year I couldn't stand the iPhone due to all the hype. Every other commercial there seemed to be another iPhone advertisement and it drove me insane. Surprisingly this release sneaked up on me. I don't have a Mac but I really would like to get one and learn to develop apps for the iPhone, sounds fun.

Anyway, Australia hasn't got it offically yet, we will be getting it soon but we will be going straight to the second generation.
I was thinking about getting it but it is a lockin contract.

Re: iPhone 2

In my opinion, the IPhone is just a new excuse for drivers being stupid morons. I mean, everywhere I look their are drivers "texting", "talking" or even browsing the freken web... It doesn't make ANY sense in my opinion, I truely and honestly think that a phone should only supply one thing, to talk. If you can talk you can do everything needed, and if you want to text or look at porn you should go back to your own house and do it while you don't have a 2 ton vehicle under your control.

But some people don't drive and instead they walk and use their IPhone to do whatever it is they want to do. Well, what happens when a ditch comes by and you fall down? Now, let's consider it more realistically. Your walking to work 10 minutes late, you got your coffee in one hand and your stupid little IPhone in the other and you just have to see what your friend Billy said and so you flip out your IPhone, check your messages, and as your reading it so happens that their is a little boy in front of you who is licking his ice cream. You, looking at the stupid message billy said which was "hi, im like so bored", trip over the kid spill hot coffee on him and then he ends up with 2nd degree burns because you just had to see the stupid message on your stupid little phone.

I mean, I'm aware these are low chance things but still... Is the chance worth the ability to tell your gf/bf/friend some stupid message which means nothing and has no importance at all to the world? Even more importantly, isn't it just possible to leave a voicemail, or heaven forbid actually talking to another human being?

Re: iPhone 2

I like the concept of of the iPhone but I haven't really gotten to even look at one since AT&T isn't in my area. I would like to get my hands on one to play with it and see what its like though.
